Wild Buffalo Wing Cook-Off at Ray Price Harley-Davidson Triumph - SCORES AGAIN!

Another successful cook-off at Ray Price Harley Davidson Triumph in Raleigh. This time it was a Buffalo Wing Cook-Off, and as usual, the money raised went towards children's charities. (Duke Children's Miracle Network & Ride for Life).

This is the 2nd event of the year, held annually. The 3rd one will be on Saturday, November 11, 2017. This will be a whole hog cook-off. I'll post about it as the date nears so you won't miss it.

March, July & November are the dates to note for the future, if you like to plan ahead like I do.

July's event was even more successful than the previous cook-off which occurred in March. A total of $3,200 was raised. That's nearly $400 more than the last event. It's worth noting that this event happened on hot day but still, people turned out.

This cook-off just like the previous cook-offs, was held by and at the good folks of Ray Price Harley Davidson Triumph.

Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen co-sponsored this event.

A family-friendly event that is alcohol-free, with vendors on hand ready to put their best foot forward and wow attendees with their cooking talents. For this event there were 9 groups which included local restaurateurs, family hobbyists, church groups, and others. They competed for the grand prize of $500.

So besides a few local judges on hand to taste their way through each offering and score it, there was also the People's Choice award.

Big Belly's Cooking Team won the People's Choice award, and MoonRunners Saloon won the top prize. Hope they spent their $500 winnings celebrating! Congrats!

So although it was a really hot day, and the event sponsors seemed to think of everything in terms of making it as comfortable as possible for attendees, I really felt for the people doing the cooking. That was a tough job over the heat and in the heat. Sizzle!

For attendees, there was a tent on hand that was giving out cups of soda and there was ice water on hand too. Additionally, icy wet rags were being distributed and boy did that help. Best of all, you could go inside the showroom where it was nicely air conditioned. I alternated between being outdoors and indoors and it worked out great. Hope they do this next year too as it really helped.

So the event had the Rex Blood Mobile on hand, as they typically do, for those who wish to donate blood.

Also on hand was a food truck, a few local craft vendors and a used bike tent sale to check out. I don't ride bikes but I do enjoy looking at beautiful machines and there were plenty on hand.

There was also live music performed by the Justin West Band. They were great!

For the $10 entry fee you can eat all the wings you want and know that your money went towards a great cause.

Keep November 11th open for the whole hog cook-off. At least the heat will subside by then although the deliciousness will continue and you'll have fun in the process.

See you there!

Yup, I judged again.
